INFORMATION
REGARDING THE LAW FOR ‘OWNERSHIP OF DOGS’.

The Community Council of Kouklia would like to inform you that according to the Law regarding ‘Ownership of Dogs’, any persons that do not comply with the following, will be in violation of the terms of the present law:

A) Persons possessing a dog need the correct ‘authorization of possession’ and all dogs must be registered and chipped by the correct authorities. 

B) No person can abandon their dog and all owners must take suitable measures in order to prevent the dog from escaping or running away.

C) Owners must ensure that their dogs do not cause noise by loud and continuous barking, resulting in the disturbance of the public.

D) All owners are responsible for their dog polluting any public areas with faeces and must ensure that all dog excrement is collected and disposed of correctly.

E) No dog is allowed to run free on public roads or in any public areas without being on a lead, or in an area that belongs to another person without their prior consent.

The violation of any of the above terms of the present law will lead to:

The owner of the dog being guilty of an offence and in the event of conviction will either be sentenced to imprisonment or a financial penalty will be imposed.

We would kindly like to inform all owners of dogs to respect the law and maintain its measures.
